A paper titled “Design and characterization of rounded re-entrant honeycomb patterns for lightweight and rigid auxetic structures” by Shengwei Chen and Seok Chang Ryu is accepted to Smart Materials and Structures (SMS, http://iopscience.iop.org/journal/0964-1726).

Dr. Ryu was invited to serve IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L) as Associate Editor from September 2017 until December 2020. Today, Rohith and Shivanand successfully did the master’s thesis defense at MEOB 301, from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. They are the first students who receive an academic degree from Dr. Ryu and will continue their Ph.D. research at TAMU BioRobotics Laboratory.

Shivanand and Rohith presented their research on Force-sensing Steerable Needle at IEEE ICRA C4 Surgical Robotics Workshop on June 2, 2017, and the research is nominated for Best Poster Awards.

Dr. Ryu was interviewed with the Korean Mechanical Engineering and Technology Research Information Center (http://materic.or.kr) as a Rising Researcher, about his Medical Robotics research. He introduced the research theme, Embedded Physical Intelligence for Biomedical Robotic Devices.

TAMU BioRobotics Laboratory is selected as a recipient of 2017 Intuitive Surgical Technology Research Grant (Intuitive Surgical Inc, CA, USA, http://www.intuitivesurgical.com).  

Five graduate and seven undergraduate students are added as editors and authors, respectively.

Two group logos are created. R stands for either Robotics or Ryu (PI’s last name).
